Erik Jones has already written his name into NASCAR’s history books and has a lot of racing and victory lane celebrations still in his future. The 2021 season will see Jones team up with The King, Richard Petty, and piloting the most famous car in NASCAR, the No. 43 Richard Petty Motorsports Chevrolet.
Since making his first-career NASCAR start in 2013, Jones has been turning heads. He set the record as the youngest NASCAR Camping World Truck Series (NCWTS) champion in 2015 at the young age of 19 years, five months and 21 days. Jones earned Sunoco Rookie of the Year honors that season and went on to win the award for the NASCAR XFINITY Series (NXS) in 2016 and the NASCAR Cup Series (NCS) in 2016, becoming the first driver in the sport’s history to win the award in each of NASCAR’s top series.
In four years of NCS competition, Jones has earned two victories. His first win was at the famed Daytona International Speedway in July 2018 after taking the lead on the final lap. The following season, Jones led 79 laps on his way to capturing one of NASCAR’s crown jewel races, the Southern 50 at Darlington (S.C.) Raceway. He’s earned 33 top-five and 62 top-10 finishes in the series and finished a career-best 15th in the standings in 2018.
